Sift This

Thecannoli.com brings you yet another look at the future of tomorrow…today! Siftables are literally bite sized pieces of technology, taking the best of smart-phones and adding some better connectivity. The designer David Merrill took small LDC screens, infrared connectivity and motion sensing technology to create next-generation toy blocks. Their main purpose is fun and games, but they have a more serious side too; Siftables can be used to teach language and math as well (at the moment) and the future looks extremely bright for the Siftables. Imagine going to a park with friends with a handful of Siftables and playing a game of chess or checkers where-ever or even using them with GPS and having a large citywide ARG (alternate reality game); with alternate reality growing in popularity and accessibility you could even have a game with them that uses ever changing fiduciary markers to have 3D images pop up and stand on the block using a smartphone. There are so many ways to harness the power of this technology it’s insane, and I realize that it will be taken to the next level and you will have it in your life. I know I’m on the bandwagon and if possible I want to be part of the wave of change… You can even use them to create music! Watch the video of the little blocks in action below and realize the power of the Sift!

Beer-Bot makes sure your drunk as F**k!

Meet R2-Beer2, R2-D2′s cousin who never made it past robo-college. Really though, the folks over at Heineken have their minds in the right places. The little bot was created over at Middlesex University and from what I can tell, works every well. The bot moves around autonomously in a preprogrammed area (it’s got a little map of the bar on the inside) and make’s everyone happy, plus never complains! The R2-B2 has some sensors on its head that, when activated, with a wave of the hand will stop the little guy and he’ll know there is a thirsty human around. You then place your empty mug in its hand and let him top you off with frothy goodness. Never leave your patrons thirsty again! Click the jump to see the bot in action!

Lego wallets look cool.

lego wallets

Who doesn’t like Legos right? These lego wallets or business card holders are from the good people over at Color By Numbers. The wallets are all made to order and come in a few different styles. Above we have pictured the Green, Grey and Blue baseplate models. The multicolored wallet is a baseplate model with bricks already attached. After the jump is the actual Brick model of the wallet. Each wallet costs somewhere between $24.00 to $32.00 dollars converted from British pounds. The cool part of this whole Lego wallet thing, is that if you get the baseplate model you can pretty much create your own designs! I’m thinking pixel art, since you can get those one piece flat Lego pieces. Click the jump for the brick model and links to get yours!

Terran Wraith Tricks Hubble

The object in the picture to the left was first spotted by ground based LINEAR [Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research is an MIT Lincoln Laboratory program funded by the United States Air Force and NASA.] and was so interesting it warranted big ole Hubble space-telescope to get pointed at the thing… and the resulting photograph was taken. Now I noticed the picture a few days ago when it started popping up around the local blogs I traverse. Problem is that they are all telling you the same thing… oh it’ an alien…stop covering it up NASA…whatever.. bs… bs…bs. On the other-hand, when I saw this object I knew immediately I had seen that shape before and it needed to be researched. So I pondered, pondered, took a poop and then pondered some more when it finally came to me. This isn’t some NASA cover up, they are just uninformed. This isn’t an alien space craft either, it was conceived and created right here in the U.S.A. In fact, this isn’t even out in space, but something that is floating right around Earth. That’s right….This picture my friends is pure marketing genius.

There is one major video game release this year that people from all over the world are clamoring for…STARCRAFT 2. I knew right away what this image was. A way to drum up excitement for Starcraft…how? You might not realize it, but that is actually a Terran spacecraft. The marketing power over at Blizzard is insane. They crated a small space craft that looked like a Terran Wraith, shot it up into space, photographed it with a high powered telescope they created with the billions of dollars WoW is bringing in and sent the picture straight to NASA.Don’t believe me…..I used a special program I created for enhancing images, just like they do in the movies. This is what I found:

Believe It!

Because I have nothing else today and this looks cool:

White Knight Chronicles: International Edition

White Knight Chronicles finally makes it’s way to international shores. More of a traditional JRPG, WKC features an active combat system and the ability to transform into a huge knight.

White Knight Chronicles is presented in third-person perspective. The player can freely choose which character to control. Like any other RPG, the characters gain experience points and level up, becoming stronger over the course of the game. Level-5 conceives White Knight Chronicles as having 100 hours of gameplay, a length Akihiro Hino considers to be a full length RPG, going against the pressure to make White Knight Chronicles a launch title and cutting the story short.
